Child Outcomes Summary (COS) Process Online Module
The Early Childhood Technical Assistance Center's online COS modules are designed to prepare early intervention and early childhood special education staff to use the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process to describe how children are doing on three child outcomes:
- Children have positive social-emotional skills (including social relationships).
- Children acquire and use knowledge and skills (including early language/communication and early literacy).
- Children use appropriate behaviors to meet their needs.
This Moodle training allows Alaska to link to the ECTA online COS module while measuring practitioner understanding through the State of Alaska's learning management system. To accomplish this, this course will direct students to the ECTA Website to register for and complete the COS Modules. Once students have completed the COS modules, they will return to this learning management system to complete the final quiz.
Students may choose to complete the online module as a cohort, or on their own. Each practitioner will need to individually complete the final assessment for this Moodle course to demonstrate understanding of the COS Process and provide feedback to the Alaska Lead ILP agency of additional questions and training needs. Scores from assessments will be used to report Alaska progress toward required systemic program improvement activities.
