The Alaska Perinatal ECHO is a virtual network intended for medical providers caring for pregnant patients and their newborns. This series providers up to date information and support for Alaskan healthcare stakeholders.

Our April 28, 2022 session will take place from 6:00-7:00pm and cover Mental Health in Pregnancy. 


Session Learning Objectives:

Participants will:

1. Describe current recommendations for mental health screening during pregnancy and postpartum

2. Apply the latest recommended management strategies for the treatment of OB and postpartum patients with mental health conditions

3. Describe considerations for OB and postpartum patients with mental health conditions


Presenters:

Dorothy Chyung, MD, attended medical school and residency at Weill Cornell Medical College/New York Presbyterian Hospital. She then completed fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry at New York University/Bellevue Hospital and women’s mental health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She subsequently worked as the only psychiatrist on Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands before moving to Anchorage, where she worked at Providence’s behavioral health clinic, lactation clinic, and family medicine residency.  She currently works at Southcentral Foundation on the integrated psychiatry service, primarily supporting the OBGYN and pediatric clinics.

Joclyn Reilly, LCSW, PMH-C has worked as a Family Support Counselor with Providence Children’s Hospital since 2012. She has been a social worker since 2001, and graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work in 2003. In addition to providing individual therapy, she teaches Happiest Baby on the Block classes and facilitates the Monday Mamas Support Group at Providence. Joclyn is volunteering as Chair of the Board of Directors for Postpartum Support International, Alaska Chapter. She is also the Alaska Representative for the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers. Joclyn joined the faculty of the AKPQC’s Substance Affected Pregnancies Initiative. Joclyn is married with three school-aged boys.
